AIYA has meetings every Tuesday (in Communications Facility CF 120 6:30-10:00) of each week except during Finals Weeks and all School holidays. The meetings are open to everyone and its free.
Showings AIYA currently hosts 7 shows each Tuesday, and will have at least 2 nights a school quarter at which special shows or previews will be shown. Membership Membership is optional. AIYA showings are open to the public, and non-members are welcomed to attend. Membership costs are $5.00 per quarter or $12.00 for entire year during fall quarter and $10 during winter quarter. EThe money goes towards buying the shows we view each year. Membership may be purchased or renewed during the first three meetings of AIYA! After the first three meetings an appointment will have to be made with the president and treasurer. All members will receive the official AIYA! card that includes names of businesses that will give you a discount. Benefits Eagle's Games, Miniatures and Models is giving AIYA! members a flat 10% discount on items in the store. Members will also recieve a 30% discount on anime ordered through Eagle's Supplier. Members have the ability to sign up for the weekly rotator slot and show 1 episode of a series the wish to share with the club. A member may not win twice in a row, and each quarter members who win will gain points for each win, giving new members a handicap on signing up. These scores will reset each quarter, unless otherwise specified. Any member may request that AIYA! reserve a room at Western Washington University for the purpose of hosting an anime marathon. When making such a request, please give 2 weeks notice, list what time and day you would like your showing to be held on, and present a list of at least 5 other people who will be attending. The officers do not want to reserve a room for a marathon that there is no interest in or that no one can attend due to it's time and date. Marathons must end at 11:00 PM due to University Building policies. The person liable for any broken equipment, chairs, etc. will be the marathon runner. If something is reported to the AS as our fault the marathon privilege will be revoked for the rest of the year and the liable member(s) may have their membership revoked.. AIYA members may request links to their personal web pages on the AIYA website. AIYA members also have the right to instigate a vote on a series we are showing. The vote will decide if the show is continued or replaced. If a member calls for a vote, they must wait until after 5 episodes on a 20 episode or longer series and after episode 3 on a series shorter than 20 episodes. The member must also have 2 other members who support the vote so that we know it is more than just you who dislikes the series, and not just you and your closest friend. All three of you must be present when you petition the officers. The member who brings up the vote must also have a prepared suggestion for a replacement. If you are going to vote a show off please take the responsibility of finding a show to replace it, that fits into the time remaining. This means that if their are 18 days of club left you must find 18 episodes to fill the time. This information must be decided before the vote is even considered, so that other club members know what they are replacing the previous show with. The only shows YOU MAY NOT VOTE OFF are the president choices (1 26 episode slot for each of the presidents). Rules Talking: Due to the large number of people attending every week, side comments are to be kept to a minimum but welcome. If someone is warned twice in one sitting, the third time that person will be asked to leave. In an extreme case, a person may be asked to leave by one of the executive members for a set period of time. (possibly being banned for one week or more.) It is also possible to acrue warnings over the course of a quarter. Three warnings within the quarter may also result in expulsion and/or suspension from club. CONVERSATIONS DURING SHOWS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED! Electonics: This should be obvious but, if you bring a cell phone, laptop, portable game system, or any other electronic machine that makes noise you are expected to turn it off, have headphones, or set it to silent/vibrate mode during shows. Anyone who fails to comply with this courtesy will be asked to turn it off immediately and given a warning. If more than two warnings are issued you may be banned from club for a set amount of time, and all electronic devices, aside from cell phones, will be banned.Technical Advice: Please refrain from offering or shouting out advice when the equipment malfunctions. CtrlAltDel does not solve everything, and we have been using computers as long or longer than you. People who yell out advice when it is not asked for will be warned that they are pursuing a course of action that is unwelcomed. If said person continues past warnings, they may be banned from club for a duration on grounds of harassment.Food:Food is allowed but YOU MUST CLEAN UP YOUR MESS. If it gets too dirty we can be KICKED out of the university space. So don't be a slob. Clean up after yourself. Alcohol:Alcohol is not allowed at club. Many members are underaged, and as we are using a public space for meetings, we must compy to university rules. If someone is found to have alcohol on their person they will be asked to leave and be permitted to return if the alcohol is gone. If a person is drinking alcohol, or has drank alcohol, they will be asked to leave. Noncompliance will lead to the assistance of University Police to escort the offender of campus.Rude & Obnoxious People:Hey this is a free showing so be appreciative! No derogatory comments about the shows, members, etc. We are a hate free zone. You don't have to watch a show if you don't want to. Keep in mind that many of these shows are contributed from members' private collections. Weapons: Weapons and Illegal Substances of any kind are PROHIBITED. Not only is it against the Universitys rules, it is against the clubs rules. In the event of cosplay at one of the meetings, only props will be acceptable. If you fail to follow this rule, you will immediately be asked to leave and the university police may be called. As for illegal substances like Marijuana, LSD, etc. this should be common sense but: Any person or persons found in possession or under the influence of illegal substances will be reported to the university police immediately. Minors: Minors are allowed to attend our club showings, but all minors must turn in a waiver signed by their parents or legal guardians. These waiver forms will be available at the club meetings. Though we do not show any pornographic material some of the movies or episodes can contain graphic violence and strong language. Executive Staff: The executive officers are to be appointed by the club President. The President for the following year must be decided before the end of the term. Unless there is no one else to fill the position, officers need to have been AIYA! members for at least two quarters before being appointed. The current positions are: President, Vice-President, treasurer and webmaster/mistress. The President is the only officer that is required to be a student enrolled at WWU. Also, all officers receive free membership. |
