M.E.Ch.A stands for "El Movimiento Estudiantil Chicano/a de Aztlán" (The Chicano/a student movement of Aztlán). With roots stemming from the Civil Rights Era, and Chicano Power Movements, the Western Washington University M.E.Ch.A Chapter is one chapter within a national organization of students in middle schools, high schools and colleges across the nation.

WWU's M.E.Ch.A chapter is open to all students and dedicated to confronting educational and social justice issues facing the Mexican American, Chicano/a, Latino/a communities today. Through education, we are committed to the promotion of ethnic tolerance, inter-cultural understanding, and empowerment. As students and activists, we recognize the need to extend our mission beyond the campus of Western Washington University and into the greater community of La Raza and beyond.

We meet every Thursday at 6:00 pm in the Activities Center (VU 425)
