Introduction

During Summer 1998, Geology of Washington had 24 students and was instructed by Scott Babcock. This class was taught in the field with a rock identification, landforms, and plate tectonic emphasis. There were three separate trips during consecutive weekends with each lasting three days. We spent the days driving across Washington while stopping at various geologic formations. We stayed at campsites at night. The first weekend was in Central Washington, the second was in Methow Valley/Okanagon, and the third was Mt. Rainier/Mt. St. Helens. One of the primary themes for this class was "every rock tells a story."
