Description of the Series
U.S.-Can. Exchange Rate:
Value of Canadian currency relative to the U.S. dollar. Among other factors, exchange rates between currencies are the result of inflation and interest rate deferentials making one currency relatively more or less attractive.

Total U.S./Canada Border Crossings into Whatcom County:
The total number of persons crossing the border into the U.S. using Whatcom County entry points. In response to exchange rate changes and other economic forces, border crossings indicate the movement of tourists, cross-border shoppers, business interaction, and trade via the I-5 corridor. The border crossing data is adjusted for variation due to seasons of the year.
