APPLICATION PROCEDURE FOR ALL APPLICANTS
Submit the CTP application form;a current resume; and a two-page (double-spaced) statement of reasons for going to China. Send these three items to the CTP by the application deadline via regular mail, fax or as Word attachments to e-mail.
Request a transcript from each higher-education institution attended and include those with your application. (Xeroxes of official transcripts will be accepted.)
If you have not yet graduated, request a letter to be sent on official letterhead directly from your degree-granting institution to CTP indicating your anticipated graduation date and stating that you are a student in good standing.
Distribute the CTP reference forms to three referees (academic and/or professional). Personal references (i.e., from friends or family members) are not acceptable. General references (“To Whom It May Concern”) will be accepted in addition to, but not in lieu of, references specifically addressing CTP and providing the information requested on the reference forms. References are confidential, and must be signed and sent directly by the referee. References received directly from referees by e-mail will not be considered official unless also received in hard copy, signed and sent or faxed directly by the referee.
After an initial review of applications, interviews will be scheduled for applicants who meet our basic qualifications. The interview can be conducted in the CTP office or by telephone.
Late applications: Applications
will be considered after the deadlines on a space-available basis.
Contact the CTP office to determine whether late applications are being
accepted. Please be aware that applications received on time will
receive priority and applicants accepted earlier will have the best range
of placement options.

To request disability accommodation or assistance in the application process or for participation in the China Teaching Program, please contact the China Teaching Program office at the time of application. Western Washington University is an Affirmative Action / Equal Opportunity institution, and the China Teaching Program does not discriminate in its evaluation of applications on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, Vietnam-era or disabled veteran status, creed, marital status, or sexual orientation. However, Chinese institutions providing teaching contracts for program participants do not necessarily have parallel affirmative action / equal opportunity policies, and may either turn down applicants on the basis of one or more of the above criteria or be unable to provide appropriate special-needs accommodation. The China Teaching Program will advise applicants of this situation and the director will be happy to answer any questions applicants might have about the application or placement process in this regard.
