ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 2003:
Due to reorganization of our operations, the China Teaching Program will not be conducting a summer training session in 2003. We will consider placement-only applications on a limited basis, subject to the following criteria:1) Applicants should have TESOL (TEFL / TESL) certification or higher degrees in teaching English as a second or foreign language, or be enrolled in Western Washington University's TESOL certification program. Consideration will be given to candidates planning to apply to the TESOL Program, conditional upon acceptance for either the regular academic year program or the summer intensive program. For those with equivalent training, please contact the China Teaching Program office.
2) Applicants should have substantial knowledge of China through either academic study, direct experience or both. Knowledge of Chinese language is preferred but not required.
3) Preference will be given to those with at least a year of teaching experience, especially to those who have taught ESL / EFL.
The placement-only fee will remain at USD $575.00 for 2003, with an additional $50.00 telecommunications fee. For further details on costs, please see the General Information section of this website. The placement-only fee is due in full upon acceptance into the program and is non-refundable.

We will be able to work with only a limited number of candidates and placement locations this year, and those who wish to apply should contact the director PRIOR TO FEBRUARY 25 to be considered for placement in fall 2003.
