PROGRAM OPTIONS
FOR 2003: THE SUMMER TRAINING SESSION WILL NOT BE OFFERED THIS YEAR. WE WILL CONSIDER CANDIDATES FOR THE PLACEMENT-ONLY OPTION. PLEASE REFER TO THE ANNOUNCEMENT IN THE "INFORMATION" SECTION OF THIS WEBSITE (click on the "Information" tile). The fees for placement only will be as described below. All potential candidates should contact the director before submitting applications.
We will also be happy to answer questions about other options, or you may consult the "Links" section on this website. The closest equivalent to our summer training / placement option is provided by the Colorado China Council, at www.asiacouncil.org (see "Links" page).
Pre-Departure Orientation at Western Washington
University (Not available in 2003)
The five-week training session is held at WWU during the summer.
Tuition and fees for the training session, including placement at a Chinese
university, are currently $1040.00 for Washington State residents and $1250.00
for out-of-state residents. A non-refundable deposit of $300.00 is required
to hold a place in the session after acceptance. All fees are subject to
change. Approximately $85.00 is needed in addition to the program
tuition for books and class materials. Participants must make arrangements
for their own housing while attending the session in Bellingham; most participants
choose to live in on-campus WWU apartments ($250.00 for the 2001 session
in double rooms or $500.00 for single rooms; rates subject to change).
Health examinations, passport and visa fees, travel and vaccinations are
additional costs to be considered, and vary from person to person.
Placement-Only Option
Applicants with considerable teaching experience and knowledge of China
(either academic or first-hand) will be considered for the placement-only
option. Participation in the CTP summer training session is not required.
Qualified individuals may discuss this option with the CTP Director.
On a limited basis, placement-only applicants may be considered for spring
semester placements in China, beginning in February. Applicants wishing
to be considered for spring placement must consult with the director early
in the fall regarding this option, and must be willing to defer placement
until fall in the event that no appropriate spring placements become available.
Fees for placement-only applicants total USD $625.00 ($575.00 tuition plus
$50.00 telecommunications fee), due upon acceptance and non-refundable.
Other costs are as detailed above. Placement negotiations will not begin
until fees have been received.
Application deadline for fall placement-only
