Seismic/Eruption software

Seismic/Eruption is a Windows-based program designed to teach teachers and their students about earthquakes and volcanic eruptions worldwide. These geologic events are placed within the framework of plate tectonics. The program was written by Alan Jones of SUNY Binghamton and Run-Time Software and can be downloaded from his home page. Once you have downloaded the file, just click on the filename (seisvole.exe) in either Explorer or File Manager and the program will be installed.

To download some TEACHING MODULES for Seismic/Eruption, go to this site, and scroll down all the way to the end. You can download some .pdf files to give ideas of how to use this software in the classroom.

Seismic Waves is another Windows-based program written by Alan. Once installed, this program allows the viewer to examine the propagation of seismic waves around and through the earth, and the resulting seismograms recorded at 6 stations.
