Locate the epicenter of an earthquake, calculate magnitude - all
online!
Seismic/Eruption is a Windows-based program designed to teach teachers
and their students about earthquakes and volcanic eruptions worldwide.
These geologic events are placed within the framework of plate
tectonics. The program was written by Alan Jones of SUNY Binghamton
and Run-Time Software and can be downloaded from his home page.
Once you have downloaded the file, just click on the filename
(seisvole.exe) in either Explorer or File Manager and the program
will be installed.

TEACHING MODULES
for Seismic/Eruption, go to this site, and scroll down all the
way to the end. You can download some .pdf files to give ideas
of how to use this software in the classroom.
Seismic Waves is another Windows-based program written by Alan.
Once installed, this program allows the viewer to examine the
propagation of seismic waves around and through the earth, and the
resulting seismograms recorded at 6 stations.
