| This is a first-year level Japanese course. Students who take this course may or may not have previous exposure to Japanese (e.g., in high school). The major objective of this course is for the students to acquire communicative skills in Japanese. The primary focus is on speaking and listening skills. Hiragana is introduced right at the beginning of the course. The class meets five times a week, for 50 minutes each (twice for lecture; three times for drill).
