This two credit workshop will focus on the basics of grant writing including seeking funding sources, how to read and interpret funding guidelines, developing and refining proposals, and tricks of the trade. Those participating will be expected to develop, either individually or as a group, two small grant proposals by the end of the quarter.

May 17 - CLASS MEETING: class summaries

May 24 - CLASS MEETING: class summaries

May 31 - no class MEMORIAL DAY

June 7 - evaluations due

DUE DATES

April 19 - one paragraph description each for two projects - one letter of appeal to a corporate sponsor and one project suitable for foundation or governmental agency funding. Paragraph should clearly state the desired outcomes of each appeal.

April 26 - list of potential funding agencies

Corporate sponsors for letter appeal

Foundations or other agencies for second grant

May 3 - Initial draft of corporate request letters

May 10 - Draft problem statement for second grant

May 17 - Final draft of corporate request letters

Draft Objectives, Methods and Evaluation sections for second grant

May 24 — Draft second grant

June 1 - Final completed grant

June 7 - Final evaluations (credit may not be granted before the beginning of spring quarter for late projects or evaluations)
