Club Information:

Currently, our emphasis is foil fencing. However, you will find a few individuals fencing either epee or sabre. We are working on including both foil and sabre in our practices.

We have a mixture of fencers ranging from beginner to intermediate. If you do not have your own equipment, there is an ample supply of dry fencing foils, masks, and jackets as well as a limited supply of electric equipment. Owning your own equipment is fantastic, however, and we highly recommend it!

If you are interested in taking up Fencing, but have no experience, don't worry-- Beginners are always welcome! We have a wide range of fencing experience throughout the club.

Officers:

President: Jessica Jamgard
Vice President: Jennifer
Club Council Rep/Webmaster: David Lloyd
Armourer: Dan
Secretary: Patrick Darby

Our Coach:

Micheal Allen

Joining the Club:

Just show up to the club during our scheduled practice time. We are open to all Western students and faculty as well as all Bellingham residents. The cost will be either $50 or $25 (if you buy an additional $50 USFA membership) a school year to join the club (cheap, I know!). A USFA membership allows you to compete in USFA tournaments. Club membership entitles use of all club equipment, tournament travel, as well as practice lessons.

If you are interested in joining, please print a copy of the Hold Harmless Agreement and complete the form. This form is required before fencing.

Practice:

Practices are Mondays from 8 to 10 pm and Wednesdays from 7 to 9 pm in Carver Gym D (map on how to get there is below). Our practice sessions are made up of drills, practice, conditioning, and Footwork, which are reserved for the first hour. The second hour of practice is reserved for free-fencing or saber lessons, where members test their mettle against each other. If you cannot make the beginning of practice, please feel free to come at anytime.

Directions:

Carver Gym D (Adjacent to Red Square/WWU Library). Tournament parking is located in the C lots, which are the large gravel lots on the south end of campus. From there you can walk north to get to Carver Gym, and then enter from the north side of the gym.
