INTRODUCTION TO ISLAMIC CIVILIZATION
A thematic approach to religious and cultural aspects of Middle Eastern society; the development of Islam as a body of religious thought and practice; and major cultural movements in the Middle East.


Film As History: War and Peace in the 20th Century
Prerequisites: any introductory American or European history course or one of the following: Liberal Studies 121, 122, 123.

Readings and related films on selected historical topics; subject and course content varies with instructor. Repeatable with various topics.


HISTORY OF THE JEWS
Prerequisites: one of the following History 111, 112,113, 287, or Liberal Studies 121,122,123, or any upper-division European or Middle Eastern history course.
An analysis of Jewish history and culture in medieval and modern Europe and in the classical and modern Middle East culminating in the development of the Jewish state in the Middle East. development from the age of the Enlightenment and Royal Absolutism to the outbreak of World War I.

SENIOR THESIS
