Carrying on a decades-old Western Washington University
tradition, the President's Distinguished Lecture Series offers a
community forum in which prominent speakers foster and
encourage creative thought.
President's Distinguished Lectures are designed to enhance our
understanding and vision, to challenge prevailing modes
of thought, and to expand our range of interests. Past
presenters include playwright Edward Albee, author Maya
Angelou, civil rights leader Coretta Scott King, anthropologist
Jane Goodall, futurist Freeman Dyson, super-string
theorist Brian Greene and Robert F.
Kennedy, Jr., among many
others. Visit the archive section of this website
for a complete listing of speakers.
In addition to
their community presentations, speakers are invited to
engage in informal class discussions, master classes and
multi-media events, including Internet dialogues.
