Large Format Scanner and Printer Policies

  

The Huxley Map Library is pleased to announce that new equipment funded by the Student Access to Technology Fee Program is available for use.  The equipment includes a 54” Colortrac Scanner and a 42” HP Printer.  The scanner/printer benefits Huxley Map Library patrons and the WWU community by providing large format scanning and printing services for a variety of documents.

 

ACCESS AND HOURS OF OPERATION

 

1) General Map Library Hours – Academic Year 2005 - 2006

Mondays      9-4   

Tuesdays      9-1    

Wednesdays 9-4, 6-8      

Thursdays    9-1    

Fridays        9-4   

 

2) A schedule will be distributed quarterly to clarify when dedicated staffing (9 hours) is available.  All other scanning/printing will be completed as staffing is available. MINIMUM 2 WORKING DAYS REQUIRED.

 

 3) Special accommodations for time sensitive projects that require use of the large format scanner and/or large format printer will be accommodated to the degree possible based upon staff availability. MINIMUM 2 WORKING DAYS REQUIRED.

  

USE OF SCANNER AND PRINTER

 

1) Access to the scanner will be provided on a first come, first served basis. Student use will have priority over other requests.

 

2) Scanning and printing service will be provided by Huxley Map Library Staff or designees and only staff or staff designees are allowed to utilize the equipment.

 

3) Scanning and printing requests are limited to material that is owned, managed, or produced by WWU - university programs and departments, including, but not limited to, the Center for Pacific Northwest Studies and Wilson Library.

 

4) The Map Library will allow requests from off-campus users (not affiliated with WWU) but limits these requests to material owned, managed or produced by WWU.

 

5) The Map Library will not accommodate the scanning or printing of personal items.

 

6)  Patrons requesting scanning or printing services must complete a request form available on-site or through the Huxley Map Library website.

 

7) Large format printing requests require a printed 11 x17 b&w for review and approval.

 

8) Map Librarian reserves the right to refuse scanning and printing requests due to preservation concerns, copyright issues, or the nature of content.

 

 

SCANNING AND PRINTING FEES

*subject to change depending upon income/expenses

 

Charges for Scanning:

1) WWU patrons:             first free, additional scans $2.00

2) Outside patrons:          $5.00  (per setup)

Charges for Printing:

1) WWU patrons:             $1.50 per square foot

2) Outside patrons:          $2.50 per square foot

 

Payment:

1) by check payable to “Huxley Map Library”

2) cash/credit card not accepted

3) budget authorization signature and budget code if

dept. funded

                  

PROCESS:

1)  Again, if a department is paying for the print job, please have the

budget authority signature and code completed prior to submitting print request.

2) Submit form along with “print proof” and payment.

                   3) The print request needs to be submitted in person…

 

We will have you create a file folder in C:/temp with your name on it and copy the file into it.  A specific computer in the Map Library is used. COPY the file from: your “U” drive or your memory stick/disk/cd/ or dvd/. 

                   4)  We will then have you open the file and verify that nothing has

changed and that it appears as you would like.

                   5)  We will then establish a print job number.

                   6)  We will notify you by email or phone when the job request has been

completed.
