Assignment 2: Thematic Mapping

  1. Review the various thematic mapping tools available through the list on the course web page. Search for additional web pages.
  2. After you have familiarized yourself with the data and tools available at a given web site, set an objective; that is determine something you would like to investigate and learn more about based on the tools and data available. (For example your objective might be to see if SAT test scores are associated with high crime areas and poverty).
  3. Using the tools and data build and printout two or more maps using the Thematic Mapper and skills you learned when working with Electronic Atlases.
  4. Discuss and critique your results. Did you learn anything new? Can you think of ways of improving your investigation in the future? Do your results raise additional questions that you would like to investigate?…

Special Note: As in any course meeting the requirements as stated above would result in a grade of in the B range exceeding them would result in a higher grade.
