Dining with a view!!!
Viking Union Cafeteria sits on the west side of Sehome Hill overlooking Bellingham Bay and the picturesque Canadian Costal Range. Your conference meal plan swipe card “buys” you all you can eat, foods of your choosing at each and every meal. The foods are fresh, wholesome and plentiful.

I’ve eaten “School” food before!
Western Washington University takes pride in its food service and is well known for the quality and variety of their food!  Dining services continually get rave reviews from Summer Conference Guests.

What if I don’t like what’s offered?
The cafeteria is set up in “Scramble Stations” with multiple offerings not a single line. You choose your own menu from the many station choices offered which means you’ll get to customize your meals.

Foods offered during each meal include:

Breakfast:
Several hot breakfast entrees, fresh fruit, yogurt, variety of cold breakfast cereals, pastries, breads, bagels, coffee, tea, milk, and lots of juice. Some of you will be thrilled to know that peanut butter is always available at breakfast (and every meal for that matter!)

Lunch and Dinner:
Always provided are a salad bar station, one soup, several different entrees, a grill station, an international pasta station and a pizza station.  For dessert there is hard and soft ice cream in addition to the dessert station and fresh fruit that is in season. A variety of beverages are offered at every meal. For lunch there is also a build your own sandwich station.

The problem may be overeating, but you’re on your own for that!

I got there toward the end of mealtime last year and they’d run out of food.
Western is used to feeding hungry 20 year olds, need we say more?

I have special dietary needs, most of the time the alternatives they offer leave a lot to be desired?
The 2 dietitians on staff at Western Washington University are ready to accommodate your special dietary needs, as long as they are notified in advance.  Please note special needs notification box on your WWU registration form (page 2).

Alternative eateries can be found on campus, but they have limited hours Mon- Fri.  Viking Union Market, only open for lunch from 11am –2pm, offers a variety of options including grilled items, pizza and wraps as well as pre-packaged salads and  sandwiches.  In Addition Market Café in Viking Union is open 7:30a.m.-5p.m., and two smaller food vendors in Miller Hall and Arntzen Atrium are open 7:30a.m.-3:15p.m. NOTE: Currently there are no food vendors open on the weekends during summer.  Only the VU dining hall offering the meal plan is open on the Weekends.
