Eth-Noh-Tec: Asian American Story Movement Theatre

Robert Kikuchi-Yngojo and Nancy Wang will present a workshop for educators and members of the public.

"Tell it! Move it!: Kinetic Theater Approaches to Storytelling"

This workshop is for the person who wants a full expressive performance using all the tools that are naturally available: voice, body, gesture and creativity.

Learn how easy it is to embellish the "telling of a tale" with movement, a song, a facial expression, a change in staging, in vocal characterterization - all of which will enhance the story and your performance for your audience. Workshop will explore new ways to expand ones choices for vocalization, characterization, and designing the energy of a story.

About ETH-NOH-TEC: Storytellers Nancy Wang and Robert Kikuchi-Yngojo, co-creators of a unique style of tandem telling have termed their form as kinetic storytelling theater. It is a seamless blend of movement, performance narrative inspired by East and West dance theater techniques, lyrical and percussive music with body gesture and spoken word. Eth-Noh-Tec is the storytelling like no other storytellers.

Eth-Noh-Tec has appeared at the National Storytelling Festival at Jonesborough,TN, Smithsonian Discovery Theater, Wolftrap Family Stage and the Presidential Inauguration Celebration. They have appeared on NPR's "All Things Considered", PBS Television, and recently submitted a Moon Myth for NASA's Space Camp. They have performed on stages in schools, libraries, festivals, universities across America and number of international venues as well: Singapore, Japan, Germany, Austria, New Zealand. Most recently they lead a group of American storytellers to China to engage in storyswap with the traditional storytelling community of Gengcun.
