Introduction

In order to expand our knowledge about the foundations of adult education, the topic of our report is Great Thinkers in Adult Education.  By choosing to study a group of educators who are diverse in time of influence, geographic location, and educational, social and political philosophies, we are able to encompass a broad spectrum of educational philosophies.

 

Our goal is to have a clear understanding of the major educational philosophies of the subject educators, and to be able to communicate not only the components of educational philosophy but also the flavor of the social and political environment in which they operated.

 

The material will be presented as a role-play round table discussion with the subject educators as participants. This report is a combination of narrative, monologue, and question/answer format developing the philosophy of each of the following Great Thinkers in Adult Education:
