How do I get involved?
First of all, bring an open mind.
No, really. The secret to enjoying an RPG is understanding your character, and the way he or she thinks and feels. It's just like theatre - if an actor can't get into her role, then the character seems flat and lifeless... but if she truly believes in her character, then her character suddenly becomes believable.
Since we play LARPs at SPRAL, the only thing you need is yourself. No dice, no pens or paper, no rulebooks. A pencil or two will definitely be handy, though - one with an eraser. If you feel like going all-out, dress in costume - this isn't absolutely necessary for your first time, though. Once you have a character you really like, then you'll start to figure out how he or she dresses.
You might also want to bring a buck or two for coffee/soda/food afterwards. We gamers are (generally) a friendly bunch, and we usually go out to a diner to enjoy some coffee and chat about an evening's game.
Finally, have a character concept in mind. It's a good idea to know what sort of attitude your character(s) might have, and it's a solid plan to have some framework laid down for your character before you draft him or her up in your mind.
Right now, SPRAL hosts two games - a Vampire game on Friday nights (6:30-11 PM) and a Changeling game on Sundays (4-9:30 PM). Both are in Bond Hall 108. There's also a third game that's not SPRAL-affiliated, but we all go to it anyway - a Werewolf game run by a pair of old SPRALites. Info for that game will be put up in time.
So again, that was
VAMPIRE - THE MASQERADE: Friday nights, 6:30 PM until 11 PM
and
CHANGELING - THE DREAMING: Sunday evenings, 4 PM until 9:30 PM
See you there!
