During the modern nights in the World of Darkness, blood runs cold. High above the city, secure in glass and metal fortresses, captains of industry count their coins, greedy eyes shining in their sterile boardrooms. Arms dealers chuckle, waving fistfuls of money, little caring for the slaughter brought about by their sales. Goth children, swathed in black, pale faces searching for something to believe in, gyrate desperately to the music pounding away the emptiness inside.
Monsters exist in this place. Ghosts enviously watch the exploits of the living, fearful of the oblivion brought by the afterlife. Werewolves desperately tear apart the fabric of our way of life. Even politicians, CEOs, and crime bosses lust for power for fear of being devoured by despair.
You, however, are the most inhuman of all creatures - a vampire, licking blood-soaked lips and constantly thirsting for the blood of the living. Eternally cursed and yet immensely powerful, you roam the nights with your brethren fearing neither death nor the ravages of time.
If only it were so easy.
Power is yours, yes - but it comes with a price. Your fear has been swallowed - along with your joy, creativity, and passion. You need never eat or breathe - nor will you ever see a sunrise. Your powers are unmatched - but would quickly be devoured by unthinkable monsters lying sleeping in the shadows for millenia. You fear no human, but Humanity itself could easily rise up and slay every vampire.
